  • Comments: I love this race/course. Was a little miffed that they made us show an ID at packet pickup since I didn't bring it with me and had to go back to the car, but the race itself is one of my favorites. Love the lasagna/beer post race as well. It was a beautiful day--actually a bit too warm and sunny for running, but I'll take it!

  • Comments: Love this race, do it every year (except in '09 when I had the flu). Great way to wrap up the season! And I'll take another PR, even if it's only 2 seconds! (It was 9 minutes off last year's time tho!).

  • Comments: Great race and event. Unless something important is on this date I will do it every year. It's a big "event" and that makes it fun.

  • Comments: I normally try and go out a bit slower but I felt ok about going out at 8:30s because 3 weeks ago, at the des moines half, I finished in 1:53 and felt great - but my first three miles were really slow. So I figured, ok, I'm tired, but I'm feeling inspired so why not set myself up from the start to have a great race... just in case I had it in me today to have a great race. Didn't work out but hey, got in some great tired-body-end-of-marathon training. And as always - SO MUCH FUN hanging out with everyone! Love this race.

  • Comments: This is a great event. It was Jennies first official race and she really enjoyed it. I would like to see the bar area in the tent expanded because the lines were really loooooong!!! Otherwise great event. Better water stations than last year really helped also.

  • Comments: Really a great race... only negative was the lack of water on the course... but just a very fun race atmosphere... which was obviously helped by the unseasonably warm temps... and the GREAT donkey crew that was present...!!!

  • Comments: The first and last aid stations ran out of gatorade and/or water and/or cups. How stupid is that for a small-town race?? The volunteers couldn't pour fast enough to get the water/gatorade out to the racers. Poor volunteers. The meat-lasagna with the red sauce was okay. The beer was alright. The participatory medal appears to be getting smaller and smaller with each passing year. At least the weather was gorgeous, but a little too warm for November and racing-wise! Hung out with most of the Donks mentioned earlier, and met SSMinnow (Suzy), and Dar89 (Don). I heard Lara made a presence. Missing this year was Morey1. Also M.I.A. was Craiggers (he don't love me anymore *sniff* ;) ).

  • Comments: Funny, I gave them my name and they handed me my race packet. I didn't bother to look at anything. Turns out they gave the the wrong bag. I was "Steven Schroeder" from Lake Mills, age 31!

  • Comments: This race has lots of good points. You get a T-shirt that is actually good looking (the whole reason I signed up), beer and a lasagna dinner after the race, lots of goodies at the finish line, and chip timing. The course is nice and challenging and the race-morning logistics (finding parking, getting your number, etc.) are not difficult or time consuming. The only negative is that there are too few aid stations. If it's hot out (like this year), you can really suffer.

  • Comments: MORE WATER!! There really needed to be a station in that last 2 miles. I know it is rarely this hot in November but they should have planned accordingly. EDIT: I almost forgot to thank all of the donkeys!! This was the most fun I have ever had at a race. I love being a donkey!

  • Comments: Negative: Couple of things: they gave my timing chip to someone else. So they had to give me a new number. Results show two Jim Webers competing (at least I beat the other jmwebs) Second, water was a little thin at aid stations. Granted it was warm today, but that shouldn't happen. Positives: the post race is an event all in itself. Hanging around with the awesome Donkeys is priceless. I don't say it enough, the Donkey nation is truly a wonderful group of people!

  • Comments: This is a fun race if you're looking for a great time and great post-race activities. Not so much if you're real into being competitive. The aid stops were few and small, with everyone bunching up to take drinks you couldn't really run through them, you pretty much had to stop if you wanted water or gatorade. The course isn't closed to traffic and at one point we had to stop to wait for traffic (the guy directing traffic stopped us instead of the cars, not sure why. Maybe it was a permit thing). So probably not a great race if you're looking to compete or PR, but DEFINETLY a fun one just to do! Being the not serious runner that I am, I'll be back :)

  • Comments: The training was better than the race. I didn't meet my two goals, but met my 3rd goal of pacing under 10 min./mile. They needed better organization of water stations. No bananas passed the 1st station. Could have used a massage tent! Need to get my nutrition worked out for a run event if I am doing something for more than 100 minutes.

  • Comments: This is a nice race to run.....the Lasagna after this year was awesome. Would definately do this race again, although I would better prepare myself with a few little things that could make a big difference in how I run it.

  • Comments: I really enjoy this race -- it's fun, challenging, scenic. GREAT route, really. And an awesome venue... with the luck of better weather (though it *IS* Wisconsin in November), it would be one big party from start to finish. The downsides... they could have used more volunteers at some intersections to hold back traffic. Also, of the 3 water stops, one of the them I had to wait for gatorade because there were only two people working the table and they didn't have enough poured by the time I got there. Also - the post-race festivities were great, but they could use a bigger tent since everyone really needed to be out of the wind. That said - I would totally do this race again. In fact, I'm looking forward to doing it again next year and taking on those hills again!

  • Comments: This is a great race. I think they did a very good job. Its only their 2nd or 3rd year and I think it will only get better. The course is fantastic. Challenging and very scenic (around the lake). Having a race at a brewery is a great concept. I think if weather was better, they would be able to have a great party atmosphere. Since they have the bar and they have the band and all. It could be great. Some minor issues, though. 1) The weather may have had them short on volunteers and they needed to have more, especially at the intersections. A couple of times we were running right into traffic with no one in sight. 2) Water stations. I am so glad I brought my fuel belt. I know it was only a 1/2 marathon, but it seemed like there was only 3 water stations. That might be enough in cooler weather, but if it was warmer, they may have had issues. They will also need a bigger tent next year. I would defintiely like to stay and hang around and whoop it up with live music and

  • Comments: they get good marks for finishers medals (tho they ran out) and the post race activities were way cool (mainly cuz of donks), but lose MAJOR points on poor course markings (actually saw about five guys in front of me cut, not on purpose im sure, just due to confusion). the water spot at around mile 5, the two peeps there were just standing there, i feel they shouldve been handing the cups out........am i being too critical????

  • Comments: This was the first time they put on this race, and overall, I thought they did a great job. Small - but very fast! - field out there, and so accordingly, they didn't have too many volunteers or water stations. They could have used another 2 water stations maybe (only 3 on the whole course), and at a couple of intersections, it would have been good to have someone stationed, since there weren't always enough people around to reliably still be following someone, esp. at the back of the pack. That said, the post-race party was pretty good -- spaghetti, beer and a band! All in a heated tent. Also, since it was sponsored by the Tyranena Brewery, they had their bar open, too. Pretty cool. T-shirts were nice too - not your standard white race T. And the finisher's medal doubles as a Christmas ornament. And for a small race, it was chip-timed -- nice touch.
