Run
Comments: The aid stations were few and far between, but I gulped gatorade at each one (there were only 3 or 4), which Laura (StartingtoTri) had warned me about. She also told me to "take advantage of the flats on the trail" which I also did. Felt like I kept my effort level at just the right place. Actually caught and passed some people (even though 2 women repassed me in the last few miles, I hate that!) Still, this was an awesome run for me, I usually rank in the bottom third in run races so I'm pretty darn happy with this. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Post race
Warm down: Hung out with other BTers for a few, then grabbed a beer and socialized with a few Team VA members. What limited your ability to perform faster: Running ability. Event comments: This is a fun race if you're looking for a great time and great post-race activities. Not so much if you're real into being competitive. The aid stops were few and small, with everyone bunching up to take drinks you couldn't really run through them, you pretty much had to stop if you wanted water or gatorade. The course isn't closed to traffic and at one point we had to stop to wait for traffic (the guy directing traffic stopped us instead of the cars, not sure why. Maybe it was a permit thing). So probably not a great race if you're looking to compete or PR, but DEFINETLY a fun one just to do! Being the not serious runner that I am, I'll be back :) Last updated: 2009-10-12 12:00 AM

Slept in a little, since this is a late starting race. Ate some pb&j on toast and a yogurt, then headed for Lake Mills. Took a zomig on the way there for an impending migraine, then stopped in Lake Mills and bought ibuprofen, took 600 mg. Also realized I hadn't eaten a whole lot, so I got a granola bar and one of those fruit smoothie things, had those on the rest of the drive in. Met the gang in the parking lot.
