Swim
Comments: I need to work on my swimming more. I didn't do bad but I would like to have been about a minute faster. What would you do differently?: Swim faster off the start to get ahead of the crowd. Transition 1
Comments: I had a good T1. Was 7th in my group. I would have been better if I did the rubberband shoes flying start but I'm hardly there yet. I would need a lot more practice before I attempt that in a real race. Even putting my shoes on I was only 30 seconds behind the fastest guy which is better than eating it jumping on the bike or having a problem putting my shoes on while riding which I've had very mixed results trying in practice. What would you do differently?: Run through the transition area faster. Bike
Comments: I had a good bike segment for me. 1 MPH average better than I did last year but I could use a lot of seat time to get better. Top guys are going 2-3 mph faster. Man it was cold for the first 1-2 miles before I built up some body heat. Going 20+mph while wet and no shirt on was chilly. What would you do differently?: Nothing, just need to train more. Transition 2
Comments: I jumped off the bike and realized my toes were completely numb! It made running painful. I was doing so good then I ran down the wrong lane and couldn't find my spot. I finally figured out where I was and had to run around and down the right lane. I lost around 30 seconds doing this otherwise I would have had a top 10 transition. Stupid mistake! What would you do differently?: I had walked the path from the swim to the bike several times making sure I knew where my rack was but failed to do the same from the bike in to my rack. It looks so different when you leave and there are lots of bikes and when you get back its empty racks and all my landmarks were gone. Rookie mistake! Run
Comments: Running is my weak point. I've never been a runner but I'm working on it. The first mile my toes were totally numb and my calves started to cramp a little. Even so, this was my best 5k time ever and I pushed the whole way never stopping to gasp for breath like I did last year. I'm making progress! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Nothing special, ate some pizza a cookie and a coke. Went home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Overall cardio fitness level needs to be improved which I'm working on. Event comments: Really well organized race as usual. Last updated: 2009-10-20 12:00 AM

Got up at 5 didn't eat anything but drank a protein shake and Gatorade.
Warm-up. It was 50 degrees and I was standing with nothing but my tri-shorts on for 45 minutes. By the time my wave got in the water I was glad the water temps were 75!
It was more of a chill out or cool down before the event...;-)
