Overall Rank = 48/151
Age Group = M 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/7
Pre-race routine:

Stayed at a friends house. Race didn't start until 10:00 so didn't get up until about 7:00.
Event warmup:

Ran about 1/2 mile
Swim
  • 00m
  • 1760 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was cancelled several days prior to event due to water temps around 51* F. Temp was slightly higher then that on race day but was still pretty chilly. Wish they would have waited until the day before to make that call and just make it a wetsuit mandatory race.
Transition 1
  • 00m 17s
Comments:

Started TT style with bike shoes, helmet and sunglasses already on. Went off on about 4-5 second intervals. Just ran in, grabbed my stuff and headed out.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 48m 24s

Comments:

Had a couple problems getting one shoe clipped in. But got off and running pretty well. Probably pushed harder then I should have on the first lap, but was feeling good. The main hill in the park hit me pretty hard the first loop. I was in the wrong gearing and tried to stay seated the entire time. Did better on that hill the second loop. Not exactly sure but was high 24min on the first loop and negative split the second. So happy with the bike. Although I think it was short at only about 17.2.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 32s
Comments:

As I hopped off I loosened up my front skewer. I need to make that tighter before races. Also smack my wheel off the racked bike next to mine. But overall not a bad T2. Putting my right shoe on I got a massive hip flexor cramp.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, maybe be a little smoother
Run
  • 37m 50s
  • 5 miles
  • 07m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Wasn't feeling great and hated the soft sand, but kept pushing hard. Nothing special here, but had a pretty good run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got into transition and changed and took my bike to my car. Then got food and watched the pros race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing

Event comments:

I liked the race course. Maybe minus the sand traps we run through. Not real happy about the swim, but not much you can do. Awards were done in the silent award fashion. Just check results and pick-up your award. Liked this because awards cememories just take forever. Awesome to watch the pros race.
