Pre-race routine:

Got on the bus at Aloha Stadium to head downtown at about 5:15 a.m. Made the obligatory porta pottie stop and then chilled until about 6:30 am.
Event warmup:

Jogged from the staging coral to the start line and stretched a bit.

Comments:

Good run. Had to exert a little more mental energy to push the last mile or so.
What would you do differently?:

During the race...nothing. Before the race...more running in the training plan when leading up to an 8 mile race.

Warm down:

Walk, stretch, nibbled on a banana and drank a little water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training.

Finished 441 out of 8478 Male finishers

Good race in general. It was a little warmer this year than last which helped to not deplete the energy before the race. As always, I enjoyed the run but I think I definitely noticed that my run pace was not as good as this time last year. I'll always do this race as long as I am in Hawaii.

Course: Flat for about the first 4.75 miles then 3 successive short hills. A straight point to point course starting near the Aloha Tower and finishing on the field at Aloha Stadium. All street except for the last 50 yds across the artificial turf in the stadium.
