Swim
Comments: Not a very good swim. A little disappointed. I thought this may be the one area I may do well. What would you do differently?: Don't really know. Just not a good performance. Transition 1
Comments: It was easy to see this was my first race of the year. Right when I get into T1, everything is great - goggles and cap off, suit off, put it beside the bike then put my socks on. Wait, this is T1, not T2, socks don't go on here. Take socks off, waste more time, blah, blah, blah. Forgot to grab my gel packs, so I didn't have any nutrition other than Cytomax on the bike. Also, I don't know what it is with me and my T1's and the bike start. Just past the mount line, I jump on my bike and sure enough drop the chain. Not only that, it gets stuck between the front deraillier-sp? and the big ring. I sat there for what seemed like an eternity yanking trying to get the chain out. Finally, it comes loose. Then, trying to get on my bike, I am quite flustered and can't get my shoes clipped in. What would you do differently?: ??? Checked the bike and it was fine before I left. Maybe just wish for better luck with the bike and not be such a DA while in transition. Bike
Comments: Enjoyed the bike course. Lots of fairly long rollers that can wear on the legs. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 2
Comments: Most important thing to remember - grab nutrition. Socks took a little while to get on wet feet, but there's nothing I can do about that. Visor on, shoes on, flip race belt around, off we go. Beep, Beep, Beep out of T2. Dammit!!! Forgot my nutrition again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the h$ll is wrong with me? What would you do differently?: Not be such a DA. Run
Comments: Overall, I am a little disappointed with this run. I was hoping to break 50 min. I didn't know if I have recovered from my 11 mile run on Friday and obviously I had not. Also, I have not done an ounce of speed work with my IM training. That seems to aggrevate some old injuries so I've been staying away from it. The other thing was the heat. Man was it hot. When I went back to my car, I saw it was 90 degrees with a heat index of 99. That's hot. What would you do differently?: Not much I can do. I'm in the middle of IM training and that comes first. Post race
Warm down: Found a huge fan and sat my butt down right in front of it with a bottle of water while watching people who needed medical. I heard an ambulance three different times. It was brutal out there. I was hoping it was going to be hot as I am doing IM Louisville. I am very happy with the way my body held up in the heat. I never had any fear of overheating or getting very dehydrated. Pretty happy with that. What limited your ability to perform faster: IM training and heat Event comments: Another great race by Setup. I have nothing but good things to say about every race they put on. I will certainly continue to support them. Last updated: 2009-11-09 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:00 am. Ate bagel with pb. Left for race around 5:15. Got to race site a little late. The small town roads with 25-35 mph speed limits just killed me!! Rushed setting everything up in transition, but got it all straight and went to the swim start.
Did a quick swim in Lake Greenwood.
