Run
Comments: I was going to stick to my goal of NOT running the first mile fast. I almost screwed that up. I did the first mile in 6:30, a little faster than my goal of 6:45. Did the next mile in 7:00. Mile 3 in 7:00. Mile 4 in 7:15 and the last mile a shade under 7. What would you do differently?: Nothing - I beat my goal and my time from last year Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Last year I was coming off a run centric two months of training since I had a marathon. This year I actually trained less but had a longer run base from my triathlons this summer. I have also changed my running style and have learned how to better pace myself. Event comments: local, lotsa people and a PR - how can it not be fun Last updated: 2009-11-16 12:00 AM

Friends met at our house and then we drove 2 miles to race start. I suggested we jog but was given eye daggers
Just 5 minutes of jogging then squeezing myself up front of the starting line. the event sold out and people were packed. There was a group of 4 older women standing near me. One exclaimed " I hope all these runners dont knock us over." That is why the announcer said if you are slow or walking please go to the back, dont line up in the 7 min/mile zone.
