Run
Comments: Started out fast trying to catch one woman who was out of sight by mile 3. A couple in my AG passed me the last mile. I ran as hard as I could! What would you do differently?: Hydrate, take nutrition earlier, warm up. Transition 1
Comments: Racked bike by bike out. Wasted a few seconds w/ baggies so my toes wouldn't freeze -- probably unnecessary. Meant to do moving mount but chickened out. Took several minutes to get snow out of cleats to clip in. What would you do differently?: Practice moving mounts. Bike
Comments: Glad I brought the CX bike, but would have survived on the TT bike. I was very comfortable riding the nubby tires on snow and ice, except on the corners. Race results said I averaged 18.5mph, but 17.1 sounds more like it. Calves were cramping the entire ride so I couldn't hammer, just spin and try to stretch them out now and then. What would you do differently?: Practice run-bike bricks and riding on snow. Transition 2

Post race
Warm down: Chatted w/ Mark & Michele & Drew and lots of others, packed stuff into the car, finished off my drink, hung out w/ Teddy who was still volunteering, helped break down and pack up w/ volunteers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Dehydration, lack of calories and warmup. Haven't done any speed work for quite a while. Not used to riding after running. Cramping could have been caused by any of these. Event comments: Love this series because it is so low-key and everyone is having fun. Darrin and Jill are great! Surprised to have ranked so well in my AG -- looking forward to trying to move up in the next 2 races. Last updated: 2009-11-17 12:00 AM

Up @ 5:30, tried to eat oatmeal but was still full from xmas dinner party. Got to Cherry Creek in 45 mins and drove the course to check out conditions.
Volunteered at registration 8-9:30, sprinted to the potty, grabbed some drink from the car and headed to the start where I finally ate a gel minutes before the start.
