Run
Comments: Well coming into this marathon I knew I had not logged the miles I need so I knew I would not be able to get back into the 4:30s, but was hopeful for a 4:45ish. The first miles where uneventful, nice easy pace and good weather. At the start at 0800 it was 52 degrees. My wife and I stayed together for the first 7 miles or so and then she slowed down some and I continued on. I felt pretty good coming up to the halfway point and hit the 1/2 at 2:15 about where I wanted to be. As I got out onto Shore drive which is a boring part of the race with pretty much only other runners out there I was determined not to walk any of it. You have from M16-M19 on this lonely stretch. There is not even any thing to look at except trees. I really started slowing but did make it to mile 19 before I had to start walking. I walked till around 19.5 and from there would run some walk some probably more running BUT VERY SLOW running. When I got to mile 24 I wanted to run till mile 25 take a little walk break and then run the rest but was able to slowly run from 24 to the finish. When I finished the temps had reached 71 degrees nearly 20 degrees warmer than it was at the start. What would you do differently?: TRAIN MORE, log more mileage. I also need to lose some weight. Who knows maybe even cross train, I think I have a bike in the garage. Post race
Warm down: Not much of a warm down, sat and waited for Jill, she had a tough day and got sick on the course, but finished anyway. What limited your ability to perform faster: Again did not put in the miles Event comments: Good race and great post race, good amount of food and BEER, you get a finisher medal, hat and shirt!
