![]() Swim
Comments: I had hoped for 7 minutes but ended up with 9 minutes! Most people wore their wetsuits but I couldn’t see wearing it for only 250m. It was chilly but not bad! What would you do differently?: I need to work on developing a stonger swimming stroke. My whole stroke fell apart over this weekend. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I had the fastest transition times in my age group for the first 3 races! What would you do differently?: Nothing! ![]() Bike
Comments: I jumped on my bike ready to roll. Originally, I had planned to try to race each race faster than the last but I realized the error of my plan on the bike. First, everyone was very fast and it would have been really hard to go slow on purpose in order to achieve that goal. Plus, who goes slowly on purpose? Also, being sick last week, I was unsure how I would feel before each successive race, and I was worried that I would sacrifice a race only to feel crappy and perform crappy for the next race. The bike course is so very flat there. I flew down the roads averaging 19.6 mph on my bike computer! I didn’t really push either as I knew what was ahead race wise. Even though I was fast for me, I posted the 7th bike split out of the 13 women in the Senior 24-39 female age group. Fast ladies! ![]() Transition 2
Comments: These were some of the best transitions I've ever had! ![]() Run
Comments: The run was just 1 mile and I think it ended up being only 0.88 miles by someone’s Garmin. But it’s still my fastest mile on record! 6:45! Again, I posted the 7th fastest split…these ladies were fast. ![]() Post race
Event comments: The volunteers were so great! There was a great spaghetti dinner afterwards and we started making friends with some of the other competitors. Nina and Gary raced around my speed and Gary is from Cornelius (his wife works at the University Y) and is also racing IM Louisville next year. Corporal Ed was my partner throughout the weekend. All starts were time trial starts meaning that 2 people entered the water every 3-5 seconds. We were seeded by our best half-ironman times (there were several people there who this weekend was their first triathlon ever!). I was #131 and Ed was #132. It was cool to make friends and then encourage each other out on the course. Last updated: 2009-12-18 12:00 AM
