Comments: Goal was 4-hr marathon. Paced well on 1st half; banking about 9-minutes that I was pretty sure I would need on the back half (I did need it). I walked through the drink stations to make sure I stayed hydrated and ate gels at 6, 12, 18, and 24 miles. I got a cramp in my left calf at 14-miles, but had no problem running through it; it went away after a mile or so. I would UA cold gear & long sleeve running shirt, tights, cap and gloves. Feel like I was a little too warm for most of the race, because it was mostly covered by live oaks, but I needed all of it for the stretch out and back to the Ocean Course. I believe I exhausted the gycogen in my thighs at 22 miles and slowed to a 10-minute pace. Once I hit this point, I made the race into 4 1-mile races between drink stations, stretching and walking through these stops. I finished pretty strong the last mile and achieved my 4-hr goal. What would you do differently?: Might have used 1 less layer on my core and maybe 3/4 length running tights instead of full length. That might have allowed me to dissapate heat more effectively.
