Total Time = 1h 41m 48s
Overall Rank = 126/150
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 24/26
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5am and ate toast with peanut butter, The drive from the Farm was 1h30m as planned.
Event warmup:

Not much of a warmup. I set up transition. Moved around a bit. Did some stretching. In the water about 5 minutes before the horn. Calm and ready.
Swim
  • 19m 12s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Time I recorded is the time when I stood up coming out of the boat ramp. Not at all what I expected. I thought I was moving faster. I didn't pull tot he right too much. Surprising.
What would you do differently?:

I didn't push it too hard. Maybe next time, which is a relay, I'll go balls out.
Transition 1
  • 03m 35s
Comments:

Just terrible in T1. Socks got stuck on my feet. It's a RACE. I need to really focus and get done.
What would you do differently?:

I need to practice my T1. It was just silly how slow I was here. Dead last in my age group.
Bike
  • 49m 11s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 15.16 mile/hr
Comments:

That was just a very, very tough course for a bike ride.
What would you do differently?:

More biking. More biking. More biking. I just need more miles.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

I was out of T2 faster than Belews by 11 seconds. I also did not cramp at all. My group rank was 19.
What would you do differently?:

I just need to move faster. No real problems in transition.
Run
  • 28m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

I struggled to the one mile mark then caught a grove. I wanted to break 30:00 and did so quite handily.
What would you do differently?:

That was about the best I could have asked for given the course. I really did get moving at the turn.
Post race
Warm down:

Chilling with friends and the BBQ lunch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HILLS!

Event comments:

This is a fun race in a beautiful setting, but it is very challenging. The hills throughout the course really take their toll. I'd do this one again, no doubt about it.
