Swim
Comments: Short snake swim through the pool. The long wait between warm-up and start while standing on the cold pavement took its toll. The arch of my left foot cramped up at 200y so I had to dorsiflex my foot and stop kicking to let it relax. Transition 1
Comments: I'm slow, I know. One of these days I'll get some tri shoes and stop putting on socks. Bike
Comments: Hilly. I've got to pay attention better to how the transition area is laid out, as I slowed down early and tried to turn in to the bike out area. Transition 2
Comments: I'm listed as having a super quick T2, but in reality the bike was a bit quicker and this a bit slower. Once again I wasn't paying attention and tried to run out the bike-in, and managed to cross the timing mat before turning back. This registered my T2 as starting over. I'm just glad it didn't completely screw up my race splits. Run
Comments: Hilly. Felt smooth. I had a hard time here, and on the bike, with pushing myself. With the time-trial start sending people off every 20 to 30 seconds, most of the race was spent in isolation, with no one to push the pace but my own head. What would you do differently?: I had too much left in the end, and probably could have pushed the bike and run harder (and sped up T1). Knowing this now is a bit disappointing, as I finished only 110 seconds out of first place overall. Post race
Warm down: Mmmm, free ice cream. Event comments: It's always fun to get back to my old hometown LeMars for a nicely done race. It's even more fun to race with friends, and I hope more can come with me next year. Last updated: 2010-01-01 12:00 AM

After setting up transition, Rob and I went for a jog. Considered a swim, as the heated pool was looked inviting on a cool morning. I had a not-so-wonderful moment when I discovered a bunch of mold growing in my goggles. It didn't all wash out either. Good thing it was a short swim!
