Comments:

cold Set up on the right bouy line and tried to swim straight. kicked the guy behind me at the gun and only saw one member of my wave (30y in front) the whole way and passed 2 ww athletes almost caught the last elite wave athlete but not quite. Got a mouth full of nasty near the 2nd bridge and almost hurled for the next 50y.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing

No issues on exit, cap and goggles off started jogging and realized my zipper was already down. Got the suit off the sholders prior to the gate and down to the waist before the rack helmet on suit stuck on heels (both) then race belt grabbed the bike and jogged to the mount line (.15+ mi) did a stepover mount and tried to get my feet in the shoes (not very quick again) finally got both shoes velcro done on the bridge out of tran
What would you do differently?:

more bodyglide on feet and get up to speed quicker for the shoes

Comments:

First lap was a little frustrating. Not many people on the course and those who were out there were really fast! At the 2 min point accidentally hit the lap function on the garmin and was in T2. looked to see if there was usable data and of course nothing. Lapped again to get to run mode and then finished the race with an alarm every .5 mi. Good ride, progressively more congested as the laps went on and the later waves entered the course. Good ride for not having any pace data available. Went hard most of the ride. Tried to drink 1/3 of a bottle (Perpet) every lap after the first but didn't get it all down.
What would you do differently?:

No garmin buffoonery and drink all the perpetium

Followed John to the dismount line and nearly wrecked. A ped crossed the course at the exit and I had to lock up the brakes to avoid conflict. Got out of the shoes just fine and prepped for dismount. No visible line and I nearly missed it. Got off the bike too fast and it jumped pretty badly, carried it to T2 then ran the long run to the rack. Good rack socks and shoes, bottle of acceleraid and onto the course.
What would you do differently?:

Look at the dismount area so I know what to expect!

Comments:

Ran out of T2 with John but couldn't keep up. Ended up maintiaing slighlly better than an 8 min pace in the heat. Felt pretty bad (cramping) around the 2 to 3 mi point. Because the watch had been in run mode I had no idea how long the course was until the end. Finished as strong as possible but didn't have much left in the tank. Took fluid at almost every station and treid to stay cool with cups on the head.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, it was a hard run because of the distance and conditions. Need to pace myself for BSLT much better than today.
Post race
Warm down:

Found shade a bag of ice and waited for a message.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor garmin technique, long course and the heat. Oh yah I still need to drop 5 to 10 lbs.

Event comments:

Expo was slightly disorganized (again) and shwag was lacking compared to previous year. Race day was well organized but geting to transition to remove bikes was hard again. For the money race is average but the city is great and the participants/competition is awesome.
