Wow.. this was a washing machine! First 600m were nasty, lots of bumping, getting swum over and kicked in the nose (ouch!) but then it calmed down a little.
Happy with this swim. Sighted well.

FLAT TIRE! Boo... it actually wasn't a big deal. The support vehicle pulled up right after I got my wheel off and my stuff out.
Someone passing me early on told me my tire was low. I stopped twice to check it, decided to change it the third time. Probably cost me 10 - 15 min in total.
Could have gone harder on this ride. Speed noticeably picked up after I changed my tire!
Was a nice ride
What would you do differently?:

Check my tires more carefully! My tire was low when I put my bike in transition Saturday afternoon. I pumped it up and left it. It wasn't as full race morning, but I didn't think anything of it. I had a nail, so must have had a slow leak .. maybe since before race day.

Comments:

Felt really good going out on this run. Started getting too warm around the 9 k mark and tired after the turn around. The last half was tough. Was down to running 3 min and walking 1 for the last 6 or 7 km.
Stomach a little queasy, knees sore for the last 8 k.

Bottom of foot was burning like crazy. Actually stopped, sat down and adjusted my sock around km 14, didn't help. Think it was the grass and dirt in side my sock. I had a huge blister!
Boys and Adam on the course 3 x after km 14. Was really helpful.
What would you do differently?:

Remember a towel in T1 to clean my feet off. That burning was an unneeded distraction!
Stay mentally tough and keep my running longer with walking only at aid stations.

Event comments:

This was a great race.

I'm happy with this. I wanted to come under 6 hours and I would have without the flat tire. I felt good on the bike and for the first half of the run. Run was 10 min faster than my last HIM run and this is a 20 min PR. ALTHO.. my other HIM was on a very hilly course, so it's not quite comparable!
