Swim
Comments: Well.... My start was good. Was able to settle in after 100yards +/-. Went off course at first bouy. It cost me a lot of time correcting and fighting the current to get back. After that everything went very well. Found my good form on last stretch after recovering from the correction. Tore up my heel on the barnacles. Mostly callus material but still hurt pretty good. What would you do differently?: Gotta remember to sight and then actually turn AROUND the bouy LOL. Still lacking good swimming fitness but this was first Tri of season and I knew I wasn't going to do well comming into it. Transition 1
Comments: Had to kind of hobble to bike with the shredded heel. Lost some time there. Bike out was a bit of a distance as well. so all in all not that bad but always room for improvement and fitness will help drop these times. What would you do differently?: Practice, Practice, Practice! Bike
Comments: Bike was pretty good all around. I can feel myself getting stronger on it. Decent breeze. Course was 70% rough road. Threw me around a bit. Areo was decent but still working on finding that sweet spot for me. Good fluids management on the bike. Remembered to gel at the 1/2 way point to fuel for the fun What would you do differently?: Continue to build fitness and work on finding the right Aero position for me. Transition 2
Comments: Rack hog across from me. Had to slide him over to rack loosing time. Almost forgot to take my helmet off lol! Felt unfocused at T2 for some reason... What would you do differently?: Good transition over all... Practice Practice Practice! Run
Comments: The runs are always a slog. Got my legs going about 1/2 mile in. It felt like I was just trudging along. Not the fastest runner anyway, MOP guy, and I don't do well at all in the heat. Wore my hat and kept within my level of exertion. Felt slower than 30. Nothing left to give at the end. What would you do differently?: Keep working on the fitness and bricks! Post race
Warm down: Fluids and nutrition. Walked for a bit then found a good spot on the quay to relax on and wait to get into transition. Didn't know how bad my heel was at that point or I would have gone to the med tent. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat/humidity, Swimming off course overall fitness Event comments: This is a good race and I did enjoy it. Once the roads are repaired and the barnacles are cleaned a bit better it will be a great race. Huge thanks to the Sailors on the base! Awesome job looking after us out there.
