Swim
Comments: The first leg of the swim, I was concerned but I thought back to my early morning training swims and it was just a matter of getting blood in my arms and getting going. I was surprised how effective drafting was. My goggles did fog up and I had to clear them 3 times during the swim. I could hardly see the marks in the distance so I just looked for splashes on either side of me. Wet suit was a very nice thing to have. My target time was 35 min but my actual time was 33:04. What would you do differently?: I would get some better goggles and some anti-fog. Transition 1
Comments: The distance from the rack to the bike mount line was only about 50 feet so I put my socks and shoes on at the rack. I got a cramp in my right calf while taking my wetsuit off. Bike
Transition 2
Run
Comments: I started running and felt fine. Legs loosened up pretty quick and I put down the first 6 miles with little walking except to have a drink. I walked/ran miles 6-8 and by mile it 8, it was hot with little or no shade. I decided to walk for 2 miles. More took in more Endurolytes, Heed, and water. By mile 10, I was good to go and was able to run the 3.1 miles. I am certainly disappointed in my total run time. I was training and expecting to complete this event in 2 hrs max. However, this being my first triathlon, I have gain a new level of understanding the meaning of an 'Endurance Sport'. What would you do differently?: I will train more on the bike and incorporate more brick workouts. Post race
Warm down: Beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Method of training, training and competing with a comprehensive nutrition plan. Event comments: Love the race and the venue. I will come back. Last updated: 2010-01-25 12:00 AM

Since this was my first triathlon, I barely slept. Heart pounding all night and morning. I woke up at 5:30, filled my water bottles, mixed Heed, checked tire pressure and ate a banana. About 15 min before start I took a Hammer Gel. Put Pam on my legs (not enough) and put on my wetsuit.
Nothing. My elevated heart rate meant I had warmed-up all night.
