Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:00 am. Ate oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon. James drew on me. Walk over to where the shuttles pick up, got picked up within 7 minutes of getting there. Set up transition. Met up with Michele. Walked around a little bit and got ready for the swim.
Event warmup:

A little bit of stretching, but mostly not stressing about anything.
Swim
  • 15m 30s
  • 881 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was having a hard time catching my breath. Swam freestyle out about 200 yd. When breathing hard switched to breaststroke or backstroke to catch my breath
What would you do differently?:

Get in the pool and train harder.
Transition 1
  • 03m 26s
Comments:

Still was having a hard time breathing, catching my breath, so I jogged until I could get on the bike. It seemed like a pretty smooth transition.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe train in transitions...?
Bike
  • 49m 32s
  • 12 miles
  • 14.54 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode the cannondale. Gears don't go up high enough to stay with the "real group", hills were hard. Lost my only water bottle, the second holder broke off before the race. Dismounted okay, sea legs...hard to stand up after the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Actually train on the bike and not on the stationary at the gym so much
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Transition felt smooth, just a little wobbly with the legs
Run
  • 33m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

At the front end of the run, it was hard to catch my breath. I took a sip of water and started jogging. Kept at a slow jog until about 1 mile and a 1/2 in and started picking up the pace a little bit. A woman started pacing with me, so I stuck with her throughout the end of the race. Felt pretty good for not training in running that much!
What would you do differently?:

Train better outside and on treadmill. Breathing exercises
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank a bottle of water and ate a banana

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My breathing. It was sooo hard to catch my breath from the swim to the run.

Event comments:

It was alot of fun. They gave out cool medals and it was nice to have so many volunteers. I had a lot of fun and even beat my time from the Trek Tri by a minute and a half!!
