Age Group Rank = 9/19
Pre-race routine:

Eat Breakfast, setup transition. All the usual Stuff.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 30m 41s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swam good comfortabel pace. Comfortably Hard. Realy concentrated on drafting and managed to draft the entire swim off of several different folks. Finished 4 min. under my goal pace of 34 min.
What would you do differently?:

More body glide on the neck. Ended up with a bit of wetsuit rash.
Transition 1
  • 02m 35s
Comments:

Only issue was with the arm warmers. It was rather cool, so I decided arm warmers would be a good idea. I didn't realy think about how hard they are to put on wet. Probally cost me about 30 seconds. However, based on the temp, I was rather happy during the bike that I took the extra time.
What would you do differently?:

Roll the arm warmer allow them to go on easier.
Bike
  • 2h 45m 45s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.27 mile/hr
Comments:

Good course. I would classify as slighly more hilly than rolling. Fairly challanging with some decent climbs and fast curvy decents. Pace was slower than I planned, but course was more dificult than I had anticipated.
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Solid Transition. No issues.
Run
  • 1h 48m 41s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good at first, but pace slowed throughout. First 3 miles at 7:17 pace slowing to final 2 miles at 9:13 pace. My overal goal was 1:45 so slightly slower than my goal pace.
The last two spurs on the course where heartbreaking. The final one was downright cruel. (Just when you think you are about finished maybee 100 yards before the finish, they send you on a spur that goes strait up hill for almost 1/2 mile. Once at the top you turn around run back down and then finish the final 100 yards to the finish)
What would you do differently?:

More training miles.
Post race
Warm down:

None.
