Swim
Comments: The start was abit crowded as you have the normal obviously slower people that seed themselves in front but after 20 minutesd it got thinner and it went ok. I decided to take the turns wide and stay away from the crowds, this desicion turned out to be the right decision. I also stayed wide on the way back I was swimming with no more that 4 or 5 people around. Because I have a big head, ont he way back I felt my swimming cap came off and my gogles came off as I was rying to adjust it. I stopped and fixed them and kept going. Luckily I was not on trafic so I did ont have to worry about people running me over What would you do differently?: In this cold water, maybe a full wet suit. train more longer workouts. I only trained 2000-2500 regularly and over 3000 maybe 2-3 times. My goal time was 1:10:00 so i guess I am happy with this performance. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went well. I stayed out of the changing tent and took my time cleaning my feet with my towel. Having a towel turned out to be a good decision. Bike
Comments: As soon as I got on the bike I noticed I my computer was not working. The sensor on the front whell was off. I decided to adjust it without stopping. After a few attempts I was able to get it in place and it stayed working well after that. The first loop was good. The wind started picking up after the turn around. It seemed like after every lap the wind got stronger. On the last lap I was strugling to keep a good speed while going down hill. My back was gettin very sore so in the midlle of the second lap i decided to stop and use the bathrooms, take some tylenol, strectch and ad more butt butter. Transition 2
Run
Comments: My goal was to tun the first 6 miles and I did just that. The next goal was to run thru mile 13 while only walking during the feeding stations. I did just that again. The next goal wa to run 5 minutes and walk 1, this plan worked for just a little bit and the walking started being more and more present. I probably walked most of the last lap. during the last 2 miles I decided I needed to avoid the 6 hour mark and I dug deep and was able to tun mostly. What would you do differently?: train more. My longest runs were 12 miles and I did great during the first 13 miles. I need to train for 20 miles consistenly. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: train more on the run Event comments: This is my first Ironman and I stayed on track for my goal. I am very happy witht he decision making and the overall outcome Last updated: 2010-02-05 12:00 AM
