I would start at the front of the pack, especially since this race had a lot of nervous newbies.

I wanted to break into the 7-minute pace, but I didn't.
I loved that I passed about 20 women, and only one passed me.

Event comments:

a 600-meter swim feels too easy these days. How two years of training changes things!!!
disappointed that my hubby couldn't see me at all during the entire race. First off, he needs to cut 5 minutes off my predicted times (except for the run, where I predict pretty accurately).
