Comments: I waited 15 seconds before starting since this was my first race. The seaweed in the first 25 yards was thick! It felt like it was grabbing me and pulling me. I was very calm though and just kept at it. I had trouble sighting, but remained calm and had fun. I should have been able to do this 3 minutes faster easily. What would you do differently?: Learn to sight better. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: My wife was just on the other side of the fence and I chatted with here while I transitioned. What would you do differently?: I shouldn't be chatting, but I was having fun. ![]() Bike
Comments: Felt good. Passed a few people. I was happy with it seeing that I just started road biking in January this year. What would you do differently?: Push harder. I caught myself not breathing hard a couple times. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: No problems even though everything was a muddy mess. What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Run
Comments: My toes were numb for the first two miles from the bike. I could have pushed a little harder but overall I'm happy with the run since it was my first tri. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Found some warm clothes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not doing much speed work. I mostly do endurance training. Event comments: The race was well done. The race staff was very good to newbie's and experienced people. They were very well organized and efficient yet very willing to take time to answer questions. Last updated: 2010-02-26 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5, plan was yogurt, banana and coffee (nothing new on race day). I was nervous and skipped the banana. Got to the race site when packet pickup and the transition area opened (6 am) and got set up. Got back in my car to warm up for a while. Missed out on some pre-race socializing because of the crappy weather, but I was going to have fun no matter what since this was my first tri ever.
Jogged a little, swam a little, tried to stay warm.
