Pre-race routine:

Drove from CT at 5am arrived at about 730am. Had PBJ and coffee and water along the way. Wandered the expo for a while and went to the bathroom about 4 times (ugh). Being on my own, didn't have much to do - couple casual conversations with other groups. Bought some GU and a new pair of gloves.
Event warmup:

Waited in line for last shot at porta-potty. Did some stretching. Should have brought my IPod to pass the time.
Run
  • 1h 43m 46s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great for first 7-8 miles, then took a dip from 9-11, then finished strong. Little twinge in calf, which is normal for me. The crowds were crazy - I've never run in a big race before - very annoying that so many people start in pace groups that they have no chance of maintaining. Had to dodge many people running together chatting. Used GU for first time - had one at 35 min and one at 70 min - think it helped.
What would you do differently?:

Settle bathroom stuff earlier and get in line for race so I dont have to fight through so many people.
Post race
Warm down:

Short walk around, then some food (bagel) and water. Left as quickly as possible to get home for gold medal hockey game.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Dodging people. However not sure if I could have gone any faster - this was my best run ever.

Event comments:

A little disorganized but this may be normal for a 2000 person race - I have never been in one. Overall, volunteers were great, and eveyrthing worked out well.

As others have said, would be nice if finish order was based on net time rather than gun. Very annoying to see people ahead of you with slower times.
