Run
Comments: Intended to run 8:45 pace but started out too fast and did first 6 miles at around 8:30...then did the next six at about 9:00 pace. So, it averaged out the same, but no negative splits here. Water stops at such random locations made it hard to coordinate my fueling (Sports Beans) with fluids. What would you do differently?: Not wear a jacket. I was definitely overdressed. Also, hold to my planned pace at beginning. And continue fueling as planned through end. Post race
Warm down: Stumbled to a halt, said hi to a couple people, before downing a lot of water and then heading quickly inside for chowder and donuts (the recovery food of champions). Did not stretch enough, aside from a half-hearted effort in the soup line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fatigue, resulting from starting out too fast and possibly not fueling quite enough. Also my second-to-last week of training was a little light due to vacation in California. Event comments: I really wish (as I did last year) there were more drink stations and a little more organization. But it's a good race to do -- everybody does it, you can at least hang out in the (chaotic) ballroom before and after, and it's a good course. Last updated: 2010-03-02 12:00 AM

Got up, drank a whole bottle of water and ate a PB&J on English muffin on drive down. Had a fruit leather just before race.
Not so much.
