Swim
Comments: I put myself in waaaaay too slow a swim category (mainly cuz when I registered I still hadn't done a time trial for myself) which didn't help. There were 2 bottle necks that happened which caused me to come to a complete stop - you're supposed to stay to the RIGHT people! Especially if you're doing the breast/back stroke and going slower than molasses! What would you do differently?: Put myself in the proper category, but overall - the swim felt great! Transition 1
Comments: So... we were given wet bags for the transition so the volunteers were supposed to have our bags ready for us as we get out of the pool and into the tent for transition... well, I get into the tent and find out that MY PANTS ARE MISSING! I had taken them off in the holding area and put them in my bag only to have them go missing somewhere between there and where the volunteers were giving us our stuff. GRRRR!!! So then I run to the transition (about a 50m run - glad I brought a pair of shoes for that) and had to dig into my backpack for my spare pair of pants. Thank God I decided at the last minute to bring them! What would you do differently?: Bought myself a trisuit so that hopefully I won't have to deal with the missing pants thing again! Bike
Comments: So... what would a race be without a couple of issues? I already had missing pants, so - what's next? Turns out that my water bottle holder decided to break that day. Awesome. I got to have 1 drink of Gatorade before it went to hell, I was luckily able to grab the bottle and stuff it in the back pocket of my cycling vest, but damn, was that ever uncomfortabel. Then had to deal with the bloody cage falling all over the place as it was still hanging on at the bottom and bouncing all over. Eventually I reached down and just ripped the damn thing out, but I'm sure I said a LOT of bad words at the time. What would you do differently?: Getting a rear mount bottle holder - and aero bars (wheeeeee!) but other than that - the bike felt really good :) Transition 2
Comments: It was a pretty good distance between the dismount and where the bike racks were, no running with the bike or disqualification... so this seemed like the SLOWEST T2 ever! I had meant to get easy laces before the race, and completely forgot, so had to fumble around with getting my laces done up for a moment - otherwise, kind of dumped everything, grabbed my hat and was on my way! What would you do differently?: Um... yeah, see the thing about the laces. Run
Comments: Wow do I ever suck at running. I just couldn't get my breathing under control at all when I started out, and it was just kind of a struggle the whole time, but I did it - and, of course, already looking forward to the next one. What would you do differently?: Try not to suck so much at running. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that I suck at running. Event comments: Had a great time, and will be doing the Olympic distance next year! Last updated: 2010-03-16 12:00 AM

I didn't have to be there until 8am, so woke up early double, then triple checked that I had everything packed - had breakfast & then headed out!
As the event was so close to my place, I rode my bike - nice easy pace just to get the legs going and warmed up a bit, only took about 20 minutes or so.
