  • Comments: Loved this race (despite the, you know, bike thing) and will definitely be back next year to redeem myself. I think 2nd in my a/g would have been a possibility had I not screwed up so badly. When does registration open up for 2011? The year can't go by fast enough until I can have another crack at this one. Side note: Watch out Matt, I'm out to kick your ass in this one next year buddy!

  • Comments: Although my run didn't go as I had planned this was a great first race of the season for me. I am really happy about cracking the top 10% of all competitors and overcoming that little voice on my shoulder during the bike. Being my first race of the season I adopted a balls-out strategy which blew up in my face. I think I need to really think about my race plan now that I'm getting a little more experienced with these events. I'm still a beginner, but I can now sort of anticipate how things will go and should be able to make some semi-educated plans based on that small amount of experience. All-in-all, a strong race for me and a benchmark for the areas that need improvement.

  • Comments: Really enjoyed it. All the volunteers were great and supportive. Was well organized from what I experienced. I am hooked now!!! Glad my wife was there, and I think I've got her pumped up to give a Try-a Tri a shot in the future

  • Comments: Good race, only real complaint was the lack of sweeping on the course, the bike mount and dismount area was very dirty with lots of gravel and pebbles, it made me not want to run barefoot in transition. also, the run course had soem dead leaves on it that a pass with a street cleaner would have made it much nicer. Also, a lack of any mile markers on the course was noted.

  • Comments: I was SLIGHTLY less impressed with the race organization this year, but I think it was partially because of the weather. WAY fewer volunteers. They also stopped handing out gatorade :( It kind of annoys me that they start the awards ceremony at the same time my heat is starting, so I never get to see the post race activities. But the vendors were cool and there was some neat stuff to look at. Some draw prizes or something would make it even better! Overall, I would recommend this race, particularly to people who are just starting out. The course is pretty flat and pretty fast and well marked.

  • Comments: The weather may have been REALLY crappy, but it was still a lot of fun and may have even given me a bit of extra motivation. There's just something about saying "F you" to the weather that feels good. I want to test out different pedals to see if they're any better and I want to keep working on my swimming. Overall, more brick training will be in the works, but I'm pretty happy with how today went regardless. F you, weather!

  • Comments: As my first race, everything seemed to be well organized. There was also a tri/du expo at the finish line, which helped draw out the crowds on this miserable, rainy Vancouver day. Also, the transition times were included in our race times, so I had to use the times I kept as laps in my heart rate monitor to know what my actual times were for the individual legs and transitions (which I really need to work on).
