Age Group Rank = 1714/2605
Pre-race routine:

I didn't end up with much time. I checked my gear, hopped the fence into the 10-minute mile pace corral, and waited to start.
Event warmup:

Quick jog to the corral from gear check, stretching and running in place while waiting in the corral.
Run
  • 48m 23s
  • 4.97 miles
  • 09m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

First run of the season but more importantly the first organized race since high school track. I finished in almost the exact amount of time I expected.
What would you do differently?:

Quicken my pace a little, start in a faster corral so I'm not dodging so many walkers, slower runners.
Post race
Warm down:

Just walked with the group at the finish line trying to get to the open area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not running much recently and being sick.

Event comments:

I haven't been in many races but this seems like a great one. I was able to feed off the huge group of people running and keep myself going. There were a lot of volunteers with water/gatorade, volunteers were cheering the runners on a lot, there was a live band after the race at the post-race party. While running I was able to feed off the group and keep myself going.
