Pre-race routine:

Had breakfast of a soy bar and oatmeal. I actually slept pretty well, much better than I expected.
Event warmup:

Jogged 1/2 mile to race start and went to find pace group. Tried not psych myself out before the race even started.

Comments:

Not knowing what to expect at all, I think it went really well. I definitely slowed down considerably over the last ten miles but I don't feel like I hit a massive wall. I didn't complete in the time I had hoped for but I don't know if my expectations were reasonable or not.
What would you do differently?:

I would have picked a slower general pace. I was only able to sustain my goal pace for 11 miles or so. I would have picked the next slowest pace group.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked for about a 1/2 mile and stayed on my feet for at least 30 minutes. Beer simply tastes better after you've run a marathon. I doubt I will ever have a better beer in my life.

Event comments:

I loved this race, it is an outstanding value and superbly run. It is a wonderful first marathon for anyone that is close enough. There are lots of extras and finishing gifts that make it worth every dollar. There are so many volunteers its almost overwhelming. After the halfway point there is a water stop at every single mile. Definitely put this race on your list if you can.

Course: Almost completely flat with small hills at miles 3 and 9.5. Moderate winds in places, though the majority was completely calm. Most of the course was shaded with two long stretches of complete exposure to the cloudless sun.
