![]() Swim
Comments: Very good swim for me. Calculated roughly that I got out of the water 25th OA so not that bad for a non swimmer. Felt fine all along, started deliberately conservative and stayed that way at least 1000m and then kicked it up a notch but not too much. What would you do differently?: Aim for the right fucking buoy! It wasn't easy to see which one was the good one because of those for the Half. 2 people in front didnt aim for the right one and I kinda assumed they were...until a kayak started to talk to them, it's then I realized I was waaaayyy too far so I lost some valuable time there! Oh well... ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Really quick T1, would have liked to have the times. I'm sure I was one of the fastest. I dropped my swim cap and goggles running to my rack and when I realized I did, I looked at them and said out loud "fuck it!". Someone took them back to my spot later apparently because they were there at the end of the race. :) What would you do differently?: Sweet nothing. ![]() Bike
Comments: Tough race! Getting out of T1 I started pedaling and quickly realized I wasn't feeling all that well. The first 10km was disastrous. A few guys passed me and I couldn't do anything about it. No juice at all. My head was down most of the time and I was trying to catch my breath and gain some energy. It got a little better but the lack of training showed. What would you do differently?: Train more but in my situation it's not really possible at the moment, so I guess i just have to suck it up and accept I'm slower... ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Lightning fast again. Very happy about it and nothing to change. Said Hi! to Simply Stu when getting out of T2! ![]() Run
Comments: Toughest run of my life I think. Almost stopped to walk 3 times. I fueled on pride because it was so tempting. I didn't and it's the only thing I'm happy about. I started conservatively and stayed with the strategy but when the combination of hills started, it was impossible to stay confortable. Ouch et re-ouch! Thought of people that I love and tried to focus on something else than pain and the desire to stop. After the race I was bummed about my performance but getting the 21st time OA kinda means shut the fuck up Steve... What would you do differently?: Train more, but I can't so not much. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Post-race massage. Got to chat and take a pic with Craig Alexander, Miranda Carfrae and Heather Gollnick. Cool stuff! What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Event comments: Tough but fun! Last updated: 2010-03-24 12:00 AM

Not much. Woke up. Auto-gave myself a few taps in the face to make sure I wouldn't fall back asleep and then showered, ate a PB toast and a chocolate milk.
A very short run right after it stopped raining. Did I mention it rained hard from 6 to 6h40 and the race started at 7h... Happily I was parked right next to the transition area so I went a few times to the car to get my stuff or drop a few things.
