Event warmup:

No warm up to speak of. Plenty of time to warm up over 70.3 miles...
Swim
  • 39m 39s
  • 1980 meters
  • 02m / 100 meters
Comments:

This was my best swim in any of the 4 HIMs I've done. Swimming in the ocean the day prior really helped me acclimate to the cold and salt water. I sighted really well, swam straight, breathed calmly and felt great in my wet suit. I didn't push it as hard as I could have (as was my overall strategy for this training race), and felt really good coming out of the water. Again, my best swim yet out of any of my 11+ triathlons.
Transition 1
  • 05m 45s
Comments:

LONG run back in to T1. Really must have been at least a hundred yards running with wetsuit. Suit got stuck on heels, as did socks on wet feet.
What would you do differently?:

Remember to bring body glide for heels.
Bike
  • 2h 57m 24s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.94 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride for me. Felt strong throughout, even on the large hills. Didn't push my pace too much, but happy to have come in under 3 hours. Only really had one stretch where--in retrospect--I could have ridden a lot harder. Again, this was a training race for IMSG next month, so I just wanted to work on nutrition and get some more base miles in.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Met my time goal.
Transition 2
  • 03m 8s
Comments:

Really couldn't have done this any faster...Again, massively long slow winding ride around the back of the transition area, then run to my rack.
Run
  • 2h 21m 58s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

I wanted to go kind of easy on the run as--again--this was a prep event for IMSG. I did my first mile in about 8:45, which was too fast, and after that just tried to keep comfortable. I felt good throughout, though my HR was a bit high at about 162. I can normally run that pace at about 152 or thereabouts.

Walked through some of the aid stations, but ran the whole way and felt like I could have kept going longer after the run concluded, which was my goal. Still really slow pace, but I imagine I'll be that slow or slower in the IM next month.
What would you do differently?:

Would have been fun to push the pace, but that wasn't my goal here.
Post race
Warm down:

Felt sick after the race. Need to change up some of my bike nutrition and see if I can overcome these issues..

Event comments:

Really my best race ever. Beat my Boise HIM time by 29 minutes, which is pretty cool.
