Swim
Comments: The swim was probably my worse performance. I just started swimming in Feb. to prepare for this race. I think I probably drank 2 gallons of water and spent a lot of energy getting around people. I didn't know what to expect and all I could think about was getting done. More than half of the race was breast stroke I think due to drinking and choking. When I could calm down and recollect freestyle went well. What would you do differently?: I obviously need more practice/drills and less break time in between laps. I feel more comfortable in the water now and think I can start concentrating more on the drills. Transition 1
Comments: I thought I went super fast in transition. I left tri suit on and put long sleeves on over suit. Tried putting shoes on while bending over and realized it was easier to sit. I don't have bikeshoes/clips so put on running shoes which i think saved time in next transition. What would you do differently?: Practice! Maybe get different shoes and maybe try running without socks! Bike
Comments: The bike was much better than I thought. I was very happy with my time. My goal was to stay above 14-15mph and I did. I have not done a lot of bike miles, but I do train on a lot of hills which I think helped me in the race. I knew I had to make up some swim time and thought the bike would be my best opportunity. What would you do differently?: I need more cycling coaching/practicing. I was pretty happy overall with the bike portion. Transition 2
Comments: My shoe came untied in the bike which I had to fix during this transition. Happy with my time. What would you do differently?: Practice racking bike and fix shoes the first time! Run
Comments: After the bike ride I did I didn't settle in to my run until the 1.5 mile marker. Legs were gone. After settling in I tried to open my stride. I wanted to do my 5k under 30min so I missed it by a little. What would you do differently?: More practice off bike and then running. Post race
Warm down: Not much!!!Sure do more next time What limited your ability to perform faster: Needing more practice and needing to loose at least another 20-30 pounds! Event comments: Very well organized. Enjoyed all the emails to keep me inform since this was my first race. Last updated: 2010-03-25 12:00 AM

Arrived in Sullivan at 9:30--took 2 hours to drive--thought abvout the race on the way down had a special k bar and 2 bottles of water. Watched the kids tri and then got my bike to transition. Set up next to Monica and her wonderful husband took care of my tires and wonderful Nate made sure I put my tire on right. This is my first tri so I was worried about those issues!!Thnaks guys!
Got dressed around 10:30 and my experienced friend Monica walked me through the pool and transition area--I was thinking of what to do during the walk trying to get prepared. Swam two laps in the pool which was good because the pool was very different than the one I train in. Did some stretching.
