Swim
Comments: Well that sure was something. Wouldn't I love to have had a garmin on me. I am a poor sighter at best but this was just ridiculous. From 20 minutes last year to over an hour - just goes to show that the swim is by far the most unpredictable part of a tri. I zig-zag'ed between all the bouys and although I did go over the time limit - at least I kept ALL the bouys on my left regardless of their color!! :-) What would you do differently?: Not sure what I could have done the conditions were just really rough for everybody. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Nice, fast and flat. The headwind on the east side of the island took all the speed out of the bike and it was tough but overall not too bad. The course was longer than last year but i liked it better without that silly turnaround. What would you do differently?: Go harder on the first loop Transition 2
Run
Comments: Not enough miles in the legs catches up with you on this course. It is so hot that the dreaded headwind from the bike actually helped on the run. That beach stretch is a sauna. Last 3 miles mysteriously felt wonderful and I ran much faster than the first 3 mile crawl/walk. Great way to end the race for me. What would you do differently?: I need to run more - my weakest and it should be my nr 1 focus. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training Event comments: WAAAAY to few life guards in the water (i saw 2 on surfboards and 1 boat..) it was a dangerous and chaotic swim for many. What a shame. Otherwise it really was a fun race. The course and the setting is just beautiful and we enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. Last updated: 2010-03-30 12:00 AM
