Swim
Comments: Good swim for me. I passed a few people and out sprinted someone at the end. What would you do differently?: Line up with a faster swim group. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. Bike
Comments: This is where my problems are this year. I have not been on the bike much and could use more time in the saddle. I went out too hard and my legs and heart were done before the course was. What would you do differently?: Train on the bike more. Transition 2
Comments: I need different shoes for triathlon. I had to put on socks due to a sore spot on my toe. This really slowed me down. What would you do differently?: Get new shoes so I don't have to put on socks and run with my race belt. Run
Comments: Considering the lack of good training I was very happy with my run. I've done this race 4 out of the last 5 years and this was my 2nd fastest run. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Got a post race chair message, but my neck really hurt. I don't think I was used to the aero helmet. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training, but I am coming back from a 2 year injury so it was great. Event comments: Very well organized and run race. Thanks Monte. Also, it is nice that it is my hometown and my kids can cheer me on from just outside our fence. Nothing like giving your kids a high five both in the pool and on the run. I love this triathlon since it starts at 12:30. I went to Mass in the morning and the church kids did a breakfast to benefit their program. Had scrambled eggs, fruit, and oatmeal. About 90 min before I ate an English muffin with peanut butter and honey. Drank a little water and had an extra cup of coffee.
Unfortunately, the night before I slept really badly due to a strong cup of coffee after dinner. I kept waking up every hour with my heart pounding.
Swam about 5 min and walked/ran from my house to the start.
