Total Time = 1h 22m 50s
Overall Rank = 72/326
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 4/17
Pre-race routine:

Arrived early, setup bike (on the ground). Nothing special.
Swim
  • 11m 29s
  • 740 yards
  • 01m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

I wen tout with the first wave and it was so crowded it was more like a salmon run. Very high density of swimmers all the way around the halfway point and half way back to the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster so I can stay out of traffic.
Transition 1
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

Long way up a boat ramp a steep to T-1 and everyone was slow. when I got to my bike, my actual transition was very quick and efficient.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster to the bike area.
Bike
  • 30m 56s
  • 9.57 miles
  • 18.56 mile/hr
Comments:

I forgot to hit my the button on my Garmin 310 so I have not data for the bike other than average speed and total time. when I rolled into T2 I simply hit the lap twice so that T2 & my run would be properly recorded.
What would you do differently?:

I could have biked harder, but not by much.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

My hands and feet were cold and dtill wet so I had trouble getting my shooes on. I has to untie my right shoes in order to get it on. Other than that I has a decent T2.
What would you do differently?:

Powder in my shoes maybe.
Run
  • 37m 14s
  • 4.5 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

run harder and faster. 8:30's will not get it in a running race. Everything I gained in the swim and the bike was lost during the run. Plain and simple.
Post race
Warm down:

G-2 and some fruit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Previous foot injury (planter Facitus) which effected my run. High traffic in swim which effected my swim

Event comments:

Same group of people running the same race making the same mistakes. Transition area was still being marked 1.5 hours before race time (just like the past three years). Race director used a cheap bull horn to make post race announcements ans we could not hear much of anything. It is simply slow and disorganized just like previous years. It is a good thing that children get books with the proceeds from this race, otherwise it would be a complete disaster.
