Swim
Comments: MY SWIMMING SUCKS!!!! What would you do differently?: Need to take swimming lessons!!!! Transition 1
Comments: Did not rush in transistion at all. Jenny and the kids kept yelling for me to hurry up. Bike
Transition 2
Run
Comments: Lactate started building up in my quads around mile 4. Tried to keep my turnover but began to labor the last 2 miles. I haven't been doing hardly any bricks and I can tell it. What would you do differently?: Need to run more off the bike on long rides. Post race
Warm down: Got lots of hugs from the kids and wife (they are so awesome for coming out to support me in what is a selfish sport). Walked around just to cool down until my heart rate was back down. Grab some free Nachos and Cheese, water, a couple of candy bars for the kids. Had a great time talking to all the NW-YMCA TRI folks. What limited your ability to perform faster: Again MY SWIM SUCKS!!! I'm not the fastest on the bike or run but I'm ok with my performance on those events. I hate to be behind 10 mins from the get go. Event comments: Will do it again. Last updated: 2010-04-15 12:00 AM

Woke up around 5:30, used the potty, ate a pop-tart, sipped some water and text Robin to see of he was up. Got ready, took bike and tri-bag down to 1st floor to wait on Robin. Loaded ours bikes and headed to the Pond. Arrived about 6:45, picked up packet, got body marked, unloaded my bike and headed to the transistion area. First person on my rack, on an outside rack. Yes! Had plenty of room the set up everything.
After setting up my transistion area, I took my bike out for a short spin just to go throught the gears. Still having an occassional problem with the front derailer shifting from the small ring to the big ring. racked the bike and took a short run across the dam, did a few "butt-kicks" and a few pick-ups. Standing on the dam, I could see the entire awim area so I began vizualizing my day. This was my first International distance race but I didn't feel anxious at all. Slow jogged back to the transistion area, hit the porta-potty on more time, put on some Body Glide and slipped into my wet-suit. Made my way down the the start line about 15 mins before the start of the first wave. Short swim out just to get used to the water and check my goggles. First wave out at 8:00, my wave (second)out at 8:03.
