Total Time = 1h 12m 40s
Overall Rank = 10/150
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/15
Pre-race routine:

Got up early, loaded the car and drove to the race site ~1:15. Did some yoga stretching and listened to the ipod to focus on the race
Event warmup:

Swam about 50-75m.
Swim
  • 15m 36s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

I felt good in the water and my time was only 8 seconds slower than last year which was a wetsuit legal swim. I took the turns wide and didn't give up my position when I was bumped. I need to work on drafting more.
What would you do differently?:

Draft better.
Transition 1
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

Got in and out well, ranked 9O and 2AG. Had a bit of trouble clipping in.
What would you do differently?:

Clip in faster.
Bike
  • 32m 46s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 22.76 mile/hr
Comments:

I took it easy on the first hill and once over the top and in 'aero', I pegged it. I felt good on the bike and was focused and in the zone the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

Get a proper TT bike. Riding an 11 year old bike with clipons has served me well, but a TT bike would be better.
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
Comments:

Cyclocross dismount was good, although the left hand turn into T2 was tight and I dragged the left pedal on the ground. Lifted the bike and ran into transition.
What would you do differently?:

go faster. 18O, 3AG
Run
  • 22m 54s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Not my best run but also wasn't my worse. Stayed focused on keeping my legs turning over at the beginning with quick feet. After the first hill I gradually lengthened my stride and started feeling better/quicker as the race went on.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster
Post race
Warm down:

Went straight to the lake and waded in to cool down.

Event comments:

Great Race put on by Setup Events. It was awesome to race with friends and have their families and my family cheer me on throughout the race.
