Swim
Comments: This is slow for anyone that is a good swimmer. But, this was my first OWS...so I am very happy that I swam the whole time (no backstroke, breaststroke, etc.). My sighting rocked, and I turned every buoy right at the corners. I definitely felt like I got into a rhythm though, and for that I am thankful. What would you do differently?: Work on swim time...just getting more efficient/faster in the water. Transition 1
Comments: No problems here. I could cut down a bit on this time...but my bike was all the way at the back on this transition, and the run from the swim to there was long...I think that had a lot to do with it. Otherwise good. What would you do differently?: Maybe learn how to have shoes clipped in to bike and do a running start? Bike
Comments: Very disappointed with my time here. I have been biking quite a bit lately...and this is WAY below my average pace. Definitely not what I had hoped. New tri shorts were SUPER uncomfortable and literally bruised/gave me a cramp on my backside...so when I got off the bike I could barely walk. What would you do differently?: Test my race shorts ahead of time. Work on swim to bike transition, and bike in general. Just keep training. This is an early season race...so now I know what I need to work on. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition again. Could be a tad bit faster...but the distances b/w transition mats is BIG in this race. Run
Comments: Horrible run for me. As I said, I had cramping in my legs and backside coming off the bike and literally 'tip-toed' the first 2 miles of the run. NOT good for me...I normally average an 8:30 pace...so this was DEFINITELY not a great portion for me. What would you do differently?: Keep training more and more. It was a long bike portion (and a difficult one). Keep running...work on Brick training. Post race
Warm down: At a sandwich, drank some water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather was a great limiting factor (i.e. the wind). I do have to attribute some of the fault to my fitness level too though. Need to keep training. Event comments: Great race. Well organized. No complaints...I definitely think I would come back and do this again. Last updated: 2010-05-10 12:00 AM

Got up about 5:00 am. Ate a half of a Powerbar and a peanut butter sandwich. Drove 15 minutes to the site and checked in and set up.
We couldn't warm up in the water...so just arm swings and a light jog.
