Swim
Comments: water was cold. other athlete with wet suits were complaining about the water temp and then there me i jump right in warm to the water and tell myself it a sauna. pay better attention to the course during the swim. i made the 660 into about a 710 so stay closer to the booyes. drafting was good i followed the find a pair of feet and following them till about the last 200 yards. What would you do differently?: more open water swims pool swims don't fully prepare you for the open water swim. also not breathing every stroke work to finally get to hype three. Transition 1
Comments: the hill right out of t1 was tough i saw it as i checked in but never took the chance to ride it up from a dead stop and after flutter kicking in the frezzing water my legs were shaking which made pedaling up the hill rough so i had to run the bike up the hill. What would you do differently?: train doing transitions i mean the jersey going on was good the helmet going on good the socks and shoes going on not so much. i might try the no socks thing one ride or work on putting socks on my wet feet. Bike
Comments: bike felt good lots of hills but dealt with them going made it up all them with out having to walk up any. and i saw people walking up them so that made me feel like i sort of belong.the downhills were fun i was going 35mph at one point. i enjoy myself on the bike kept busying by counting down how many miles were left till t2. What would you do differently?: push a little harder i mean it was a race and i was gliding a lot. Transition 2
Comments: the joys of not changing shoes kept me under 2:20 so i defintalty like the idea of just straps i eventually get clipless pedals. but for now i like the idea. What would you do differently?: T2 was awesome i mean i didn't have a going now. rack the bike pop the helmet off chug the rest of the water in the bottle and take to the run course Run
Comments: the people who live along the run course were awesome setting up there own water stations so there was like water every half mile except it hurt me later in the run as i got stomach cramps. the run definatly didn't go as planned there was a huge hill going up as you leave t2 which i had to walk up cause my legs were dead. What would you do differently?: run more routes with hills don't avoid them during training cause i know i'll see them in the races. so i might take a day just to do repeats on a hill in town. Post race
Warm down: jogged around the park and just relaxed What limited your ability to perform faster: my lack of sticking to a training reginme. Event comments: good first tri i did want i wanted to accomplish and that was to finish so all in all it was a good day. Last updated: 2006-01-09 12:00 AM
