  • Comments: Family had a nightmare day. This race is not set up for spectators. They only got to see me come out of the water and then could not get over to the finish area. Don't bring the family to this one.

  • Comments: Love this race. Love the venue. Love the course. Love just about everything about it. Except for one thing. The results. They do not put your ranking in each section nor do they put your ranking in each against your AG. To do it, you have to cut and paste their data into an spreadsheet to do lots of mental gymnastics to figure it out. I'll do mine later, but that is the one thing about this race that bugs me. For something so well run, they have a crummy results report.

  • Comments: I really like this course, but the remoteness and logistical challenges will have me think about doing it again. It really takes up a lot of time for a sprint. But it's one of a very few options at this time of year for the area. I probably will eventually, as I'd like to be able to really get after it some time.

  • Comments: I love this race. Considering it is a point to point, they do a hell of a job. And it is one of the harder ones around. And pretty. As always, I'll be back next year.

  • Comments: - the set up may be explained in the 10 page participant book, but you'd think as confusing as this triathlon is that the volunteers would be a little more friendly. - i'm sure if i do it again, it will go more smoothly now that i know what to expect. but of the first time, it just seemed like a big hassle.

  • Comments: Had a blast at the race. Was cool to see my wife and little guy right on the corner so they got to see me coming in and out of T2 as well as coming into the finish. I would really recommend the race, but for logistics, I would strongly suggest staying on Eagle Ridge property as getting around the day of the race even after finishing can be a daunting task.

  • Comments: I have to give this race a below average rating for a couple of reasons. 1) It is a logistical mess and communication to the athletes and spectators, could have been better. Example: My wife went to T1 (which is where we dropped our car) and was going to watch me and friends swim, then head to T2 via either our car or the shuttle. It was not communicated very well that she would have to wait until the duathletes were on their bikes before she left. So, she didn't drive and opted for the shuttle. Which leads me to: 2) Volunteers need to be better trained, and more hospitable. Her shuttle got lost which resulted in her not being able to see any of the three of us (2 friends and me) transition at T2, run, or even finish. Her 35-40 minute ride turned into 1 hour 10 minutes. There was no communication from her driver on what was going on, and although many people on the bus were trying to help give directions, the driver wasn't listening. There were some people on the bus who's spouses

  • Comments: This is such a good race and well run. It is particularly well run considering it is a point to point. Takes lots of logistical coordination and they do it well. My only complaint is how they do the results. They do not give enough info, particularly how you did within each leg. Sure I could probably cut and paste the info into Excel and figure it out but I'm too lazy. I will be back again next year.

  • Comments: Overall, I just need to train more. I was hoping for something in the 2:15-2:30 range, which was probably possible with even marginal improvement and a lot more training volume. It's a start though. And hopefully an easy time to improve on next year.

  • Comments: The volunteers were great and the race was very well organized. I can only assume it's a logistical nightmare to put on an event like this. My only complaint was with the shuttles. We had to wait forever to get from T2 to the Start in the morning which kept me from getting in a swim warm-up as planned. Still, it's a great event that I've done before and will do again.

  • Comments: Shuttles were not as efficient as past years. Need to coordinate with Eagle Ridge Resort so athletes can get special check out arrangements. That is an unnecessary hassle.

  • Comments: At this point, I'll be back next year. Beautiful venue. Challenging course. Great volunteers (Sherrifs at every major intersection was way cool). Just a good all around event. And surprisingly organized considering there were two wholly seperate transition areas.

  • Comments: I hear this was new course this year so I have no prior experience to compare it to. But what cracked me up was the amount of people [5, by actual count] I entered into small talk with at the beginning of the race, and they said "and you chose THIS for your first race?" like I was out of my mind. I can take their point, but what better way than to jump right into the sport. Apart from that, the logistics from the Friday evening before was a little tiring, trying to get all my gear at the right place was a little bit of a pain, [thank goodness for GPS]. Overall great first race for me I think, and with experience it'll get better. And yeah, Galena was tough, but it was FUN!

  • Comments: 1st if you are reading this and you are planning your 1st tri. Look elsewhere cuz this course will Kick your ass. at this point you wont be beating Galena it will beat you, but if you insist on making this your 1st tri. well plan on surviving not winning. Nextyou must work on open water swimming it is nothing like swimming in a pool. Bring a pair of sandles and place them on the grass along the side walk you'll know when you see it. next fins someone who has been there before and ask alot of questions. That will be your biggest resource. Most of all have fun even while getting your ass kicked. It is one of the most beautiful bike courses you will ever ride on. If you have any questions just ask and I'll tell you what I know and wont fake an answer.
