Pre-race routine:

This is my first Sprint. Trained for this event for nearly 3 months. Never been a fan of running, only started to run in August 2009. Got my Trek XO1 in Feb 2010. Avoid getting too excited, so, just relax & rest. Keep my mind clear. Eat some seafood the night before!
Event warmup:

Stretching & again just keep cool and relax. Arrived about 5.45am, prepared my bike gears and running shoes. Have other backup items like my prescription glasses, towel and extra pair of running shoe in my trasition bag. I only took an Energy bar when i got up to avoid getting issue with my sensitive tummy.

Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 41m 47s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 17.95 mile/hr
Comments:

My average during training is 40mins @ 12.5miles but still happy with the time considering the strong wind!
What would you do differently?:

More spinning and hope to average 20m/hr
Transition 2
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

I have 2 pair of running shoes, one with the easy lace and on regular tie lace. I uses the easy lace for Sprint without socks. However, when feet is sweaty from the bike (also bike without socks), its not easy to slip into the easy lace, thus, i have my backup shoes in my transition bag.
What would you do differently?:

Run slow towards the T2 and to the Run Out. I ran a little too fast and lost some energy, so, was struggle a little on the run.
Run
  • 25m 53s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

My average 3miles run during training is 24mins, so was not very happy with the time. Also, i started too fast just right after T2 coz i was too excited, i have anticipated this but just didnt do it!
What would you do differently?:

Take it slow during T2. Do a fast walk towards the Run Out, then jog a little before doing the actual pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch and Relax. Cool down with lots of water!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of endurance and long distance training!

Event comments:

The Check In/Package Pickup on Friday was a mess. Very disorganized, waited in line for over 25mins, only 1 volunteer to check-off our name before lining again to the Sprint Check-In section.
