Swim
Comments: Most god awful thing I have ever done. Started off strong for first hundred yards or so then lost control of my breathing and my stroke. I spent the rest of the time in the water doing the side stroke or swimming on my back. haha I got ran over by 4 different waves of people. It was awful. What would you do differently?: I have GOT to get into some swim classes. Transition 1
Comments: I had to "gather" myself after the swim. I was dizzy and nauseated after I got out of the water. What would you do differently?: Gotta get those swim lessons. I forgot my shades on the bike. Bike
Comments: I live here in Lubbock so I got to train on the course. A great advantage. I felt dizzy and a little nauseated for the first 5 miles or so on the bike because of the tough swim but otherwise I felt fantastic and strong during the bike leg. What would you do differently?: I would definitely push myself a little harder. I felt good and should have taken advantage of it. Hydration and energy levels were excellent. Transition 2
Comments: I had to go to the bathroom during T2 so it took a little longer otherwise it went perfectly. What would you do differently?: Well, not much can be done about having to pee so I guess I couldn't have done much differently. Run
Comments: I had NOTHING left in my legs after the bike but finally got some "land legs" back around mile 3. Had to run at a snail's pace but got it done. What would you do differently?: Need to do more brick sessions. I felt soooo weak during the run. Post race
Warm down: Just a nice walk afterwards, had to climb a damn hill to get my bike back to the truck. What limited your ability to perform faster: I just didn't push myself hard enough I think. I definitely need to train more. Event comments: This was my first tri to do ever so I don't have that much to go on. The volunteers were EVERYWHERE. They were fantastic. The Greers REALLY take care of the athletes. There are NO worries at all on race day. Just run the race and everything else is taken care of. This was one of the most exciting days of my life and I cannot wait for the next race. I just quit smoking 8 months ago and started training for this race in February so next year I should be able to kick some ass. haha Last updated: 2006-01-10 12:00 AM
