Pre-race routine:

Nothing too major today! just got set up and laid down to relax!
Event warmup:

I hopped on the bike for a quick 1/2 mile spin and to get the legs going!
Swim
  • 15m 14s
  • 650 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was a crazy mass start. There were only two waves, males and then females. I almost got kicked a few times but, I managed to avoid all other swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

I wish I had more time to prepare for this race. I have been out of town for the last two weeks working and it was really hard to do anything but run.
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

This transition was very slow because I ran from the water all the way to transition, passing 3 or 4 guys on the way. After getting into transition, I walked the rest of the way to my bike just to catch my breath.
What would you do differently?:

Be in better shape out of the water!
Bike
  • 39m 20s
  • 13 miles
  • 19.83 mile/hr
Comments:

The insole in my left shoe slid forward while I was attempting to put my feet in the shoes. This made the bike a bit uncomfortable but I rode through it.
What would you do differently?:

I wish I had more time to spend on the bike before the race. I really felt weak and couldn't stay in my aerobars.
Transition 2
  • 00m 54s
Comments:

I decided to run without socks since this was a sprint. This made my transition really quick.
What would you do differently?:

Have a better setup to grab gels or liquids before the run.
Run
  • 25m 48s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

I just focused on eyeing certain people and trying to catch them. This worked out really well for me because I was able to set a new personal best!!
What would you do differently?:

Be in a little better shape.
Post race
Warm down:

Just tried to catch my breath!! I left almost everything I had on that run course!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

weight gain over the past few weeks. I put on about 8 pounds! That really SUCKS!!

Event comments:

This is a really good race for someone new to triathlons or someone looking to cut down their time. There are free burgers and pizza for all in attendance, even family members and spectators. I will definitely return in better shape next year!!
