Swim
Comments: This went as well as I could have hoped. Got out of the water at 7:24 which is just under 1:39 pace. Felt good and relaxed the whole time. Just trying to avoid trying to go too fast. When I was done felt fresh and ready to race. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: This was slow. I took the time to put on arm warmers for the bike because I am a wimp. Also, had to put on a jersey since I thought i would be too cold if I swam in what I would wear on the bike. What would you do differently?: Need to learn how to get the warmers on faster if I need them. Bike
Comments: My best bike ever. I have hardly gotten outside to bike this year. But, I have been working really hard on the bike trainer, so was excited to see where I was at. Felt very good. Had fun doing the short loops and having my family to cheer for me at each loop. Almost fell at the end of the first loop as I looked down to make sure my timing chip was still attached. Was going 24 mph at the time, would have been a brutal crash. Overall, managed to stay over 20 in the into the wind sections and pushed to hit 25 when with the wind. Only other comment is that I think the distance on the bike must have been off. I'm pretty sure I didn't average 22.5. I think something more like 21.5 would be more accurate. But, I'll take it... What would you do differently?: Nothing this is a lot faster than I have done in any race previously. A good sign for the year. Transition 2
Comments: Slow again. Stepped in a big puddle coming off the bike. Then had to put on my knee brace. But, glad I did. Knee held up well. Also, snapped one of the shoe laces on my new Zoot shoes. But, it was in a place they were still serviceable. What would you do differently?: Heal my knee so I can scrap the brace. That will be annoying if I have to do that all year. Run
Comments: Not surprisingly, this was tough. I have done 0 bricks this season as I have been trying to take care of my knee. My run fitness is decent, but not quite where it was last year. The first half was just tough. Felt like my legs wouldn't work at all. Actually felt pretty good after the turn around and pushed the last mile pretty hard. What would you do differently?: Do some bricks. I expect to cut 3 min off this time in my races later in the year if I can get some better run and brick training in. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Only lack of run fitness and brick training Event comments: After picking up my packet, my expectations for the race were low. But, I was pleasantly surprised. They did a good job running the race and I had a blast. I even thought the bike course was fun (except the one short bit of road that was really rough)/ I will definitely be using this as an early race in my annual calendar. Actually, really enjoyed the pool swim. Except I did get very annoyed by people in waves ahead of me that were BAD swimmers. I'm excited where I am at on the bike this year, hoping that is a sign of a good season. Last updated: 2010-05-17 12:00 AM

Got to race early enough to get a good spot in transition. Took my time and got organized and setup
Very little warmup. Did some drills in the pool which was helpful.
