  • Comments: The time trial pool start was great, they should just order racers from fastest to slowest to avoid congestion with faster racers on the bike.

  • Comments: Good race for practice at the beginning of a season. It is my second year of doing triathlons, so I can anticipate some organizational flaws. The biggest one was, that there was no info or announcement that swim portion got way ahead of time. As for first timers, if you want to get hooked to this awesome sport and experience very well organized event, I would recommend Pleasant Prairie triathlon in June.

  • Comments: Great for beginners. Good for a first race of the year. Hope the city repaves one of the roads. I'll likely be back. Good people and good volunteers.

  • Comments: A few glitches this year. Pool deck was a little discombobulated as they looked around for swimmers at the beggining of each heat (if someone's not there, they should get a 10 second warning and then get bumped to a later heat).

  • Comments: This remains a great race to kick off the season. They need to monitor the run better, though. Much of the run is adjacent to the bike route and runners were all over the road (either trying to take inside curves or stay in the shade). The bike was not too crowded, so it never became obviously unsafe, but it could have lead to an accident (especially as people on both foot and bike were getting tired) and could have been managed better.

  • Comments: Can't rate the race against others because it was my first. But the people were very nice and organized. Pity the weather was so awful and the bike had to be canceled.

  • Comments: After picking up my packet, my expectations for the race were low. But, I was pleasantly surprised. They did a good job running the race and I had a blast. I even thought the bike course was fun (except the one short bit of road that was really rough)/ I will definitely be using this as an early race in my annual calendar. Actually, really enjoyed the pool swim. Except I did get very annoyed by people in waves ahead of me that were BAD swimmers. I'm excited where I am at on the bike this year, hoping that is a sign of a good season.

  • Comments: This is a great early season race near Chicago. They've done a great job in the 2 years that I've run it, and I think I'll always try to kick off the season here. My one complaint is the seeding on the swim (which is done on the honor system). With wave starts that require everyone be out of the pool prior to the next wave, it really holds things up when someone underestimates their times - if you're even a minute off on a 450 yd race, I get it, you might have had an off day, but there was someone in every early wave (6:00-7:30 estimated time) who was finishing at 9:00 or 10:00 minutes and clearly had no chance of swimming much faster. Maybe you get pulled out of the pool and sit for a penalty time based on how much (or little) yardage you covered. There's got to be a way to make something like that work.

  • Comments: Good race overall. Awards ceremony took a long time to get to because they wanted to wait for the last athletes to finish. This accounted to waiting around for almost 4 hours after finishing and 90% of award winners didn't stick around for the ceremony.

  • Comments: Some of the signage was very confusing. For example, when I was running out of the pool area they didn't have a clear path out and I started going down the path that was leading back into the pool. I turned around and bumped into two other ladies who did the same thing! We all turned around and headed back, the right way.

  • Comments: I don't think this race was well organized. First the swim started at least 10 minutes late, the bull horn wouldn't work for them. Then getting on to the course for the bike and run was insane. Using the same street for run out and in and bike out and in was just the most confusing thing ever especially because they didn't even line the whole things with cones. Then they only really had about one volunteer at each water station for the run. There were not many spectators at all. The only nice part was that when you got on the course you didn't have to worry about so many people being in your way because of the wave starts. For being in its 20 something year, it was not a well off race at all and still seemed to have many glitches in organization.

  • Comments: This is my third time, and I still think it's a solid race. A little lighter on volunteers this year, but they do a great job! 2008 Total Time-1:06:33 2007 Total Time-1:11:31 2006 Total Time-1:24:36 As you can see, I"ve improved a bunch of the three years I've done this race. I"m happy with how things have progressed, but I have a lot of work to do!

  • Comments: Good warm up race. Its the 21st year of the race and they have it down to a science. Well organized and the volenteers at all the transition points and turns were great. Lots of cheering going on. Will definitely use it to start the season next year.
