Swim
Comments: I am obviously pleased with being 1st in my age group! My est. time had me seeded 45th overall for the swim so I managed to cut that ranking in half as well. It`s hard to grumble about that. One thing though, I got bottlenecked a few times and found passing difficult. I can`t help but think I could have gone faster, but we`ll see next time. What would you do differently?: Pass better and warm up so I can avoid the first 100m jitters. Transition 1
Comments: There were a lack of time pads around so there was no transition data. However, by my count both T1 and T2 are incorporated in the bike time. I believe I had 2:45 in total transition time which, believe it or not is a huge improvement for me. Bike
Comments: Considering this leg time also included transition times, I am really pleased with my result. There were many occasions during this leg where I felt like checking up and coasting, but I didn't. I pushed throught the hard times and came out with a time I can be proud of, which to me is what this whole thing is about. I'm not the strongest cyclist, but I'm getting better. What would you do differently?: Train Transition 2
Comments: see above Run
Comments: By far my worst leg of any tri I've done is the run. This leg in particular was no different. I'm not sure if I lack the stamina, well that's a lie, I am sure it's a lack of stamina coupled with some other more easily remedied problems. My plan was to start at a slower pace for the first K and work it in from there. That didn't happen. I didn't really get into my rhythym untill the 3rd K and by then it was too late to post any sort of decent result. Oh and a bitch of a blister on my instep didn't help. What would you do differently?: Train, and think out my plan alot more carefully. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Training, or lack-there-of. Event comments: Although my run didn't go as I had planned this was a great first race of the season for me. I am really happy about cracking the top 10% of all competitors and overcoming that little voice on my shoulder during the bike. Being my first race of the season I adopted a balls-out strategy which blew up in my face. I think I need to really think about my race plan now that I'm getting a little more experienced with these events. I'm still a beginner, but I can now sort of anticipate how things will go and should be able to make some semi-educated plans based on that small amount of experience. All-in-all, a strong race for me and a benchmark for the areas that need improvement. Last updated: 2010-05-17 12:00 AM

Overall Rank = 31/330
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 8/29
My pre-race routine consisted of watching Riel get psyched up, which of course got me pretty psyched too. It`s great to have a partner in crime for just that purpose. Plus, he gave me a ride to the race.
Didn`t really warmup.
