Swim
Comments: I seeded myself in back because I did not know if my coughing would act up. Someone told me I was in the wrong age group since I did not look old. I told him it was the gene's and all the yogurt I eat. I noticed the first 100 meters I was going to fast due to excitement. I pace myself and found someone to draft. I noticed we were to far out and made my way back in towards the buoy for the turnaround. Second time I drafted off of someone with poor sighting. Still felt good. My watch had 11 min when I got out of water but I had to run several far to hit the timing matt. What would you do differently?: train more but due to illness I had no choice Transition 1
Comments: I could not find my string to take off wetsuit. I normally stick in the wetsuit but I could not remember if I had inserted on left or right side. It had come out during the swim. Then I had a hard time taking off the wetsuit. Got stuck on my garmin watch, got stuck on timing chip. Longer T1 from last year. What would you do differently?: Make sure I know where my string is. Bike
Comments: I knew I had to conserve energy so I started out slow. Many people passed me up on the bike but I stuck to my plan. I caught to some people as I warmed up but for most part it was good. This time around I took it easy going down hill and conserve energy for going up hill. It worked great. I even caught to some people that passed me up. I guess they got excited and did not pace themselves. I feel some pain on my right hip. What would you do differently?: train Transition 2
Comments: I forgot to bring sunscreen. I no longer wear visor due to sweating. The visor becomes soaked and heavy so it becomes a pain the in butt. I had installed the yankz laces so I threw the socks on the slipped the shoes on and off I went. What would you do differently?: I would have taken my feet out of my shoes like I always do. Run
Comments: I was feeling hot right off the bike and the Sun was really strong. I ran but then I hit a hill and started to walk. I walked every time there was a hill. People I passed on the bike were now passing me. Some gave words of encouragement. That would motivate me and I would begin to run. After mile 3 I started to feel pain in the knee area. So I ate some tumms, then I took a Motrin. I started to cramp so I took a salt pill. I hit mile 4 and I decided to take it up a notch. I heard some people chanting to there friend to pass me up. I knew thy were only trying to motivate their friend. I heard his foot steps behind me getting closer. I decided to dig deep and not let him pass me. I thought my cramps would kick in and stop me from sprinting in. Surprisingly they did not and as I heard his steps get closer I went faster then even faster. He caught me at the snack table and said good job kicking it in. He said he though he had me and then I turned on the turbo. What would you do differently?: Train on hills Post race
Warm down: walk around What limited your ability to perform faster: Pertussis virus and that's my excuse all year. Event comments: I am taking all kinds of medication to beat this virus so I hope I can still compete this season. I wanted to get a massage today but I have sun burn on my should so I need to recover before I can enjoy and relaxing massage. Last updated: 2010-05-23 12:00 AM
