Swim
Comments: Navigation is ALWAYS hard for me. I'd rather swim directly into the current than be broadsided by it and blown off course. THis was not NEARLY the problem the 3 mile River Swim was the other week. WAY more fun. Stayed in the group, caught most of the wave ahead of me. Didn't feel all alone in open water for 45 min like last time! That is one bad creepy feeling, and this was more in w/ all the other swimmers. Transition 1
Comments: I don't ever wear a wet suit or bike shoes; so I just have to towel off a little, put on socks, running shoes, cloths, helmut, and go. What would you do differently?: hahah put my shorts on BEFORE my shoes, so I don't have to take them off and start all over. I was a little flustered knowing only good part of the race for me was over. Bike
Comments: Not sure how I was 8th w/ 7 finishers. Maybe I was behind people who didn't finish? Figured it out: There were 13 athenas total, 7 in my age group. 52 athenas and clydes together. I was 8th out of all 13 athenas for the bike, and 44th out of the athenas and clydes. Not sure where i was w/in the 7 athenas of my age group. What would you do differently?: TRAIN. I was WAY not ready for either the bike or the run. Transition 2
Comments: I don't ever wear bike shoes; so I just have rack my bike, ditch the helmut and go. Run
Comments: walked the whole thing. Didn't even jog occasionally. It was HOT and my heart rate never got below like 165 even walking. I was DYING. It's totally my own fault. I seriously slacked and lost all the progress I made last year over the winter. What would you do differently?: Actually train for it. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm in the middle of swimming crazy milage for the Bay Bridge; been totally neglecting the bike and run. The Bay Bridge is next week, and I'm registered for an Olympic in September. Doing this one was really to get me off my butt and training for that Olympic. W/ the Bay bridge next week I'll be able to cut back from swimming like 15-16mi/week to more like 3. Event comments: Figured out the 7 v 13 finishers thing. There were 13 athenas total, 7 in my age group. 52 athenas and clydes together. W/in that 7 athena age group I was 3rd for the whole race. 9th out of all 13 athenas for the whole race, and 44 out of the 52 athenas and clydes for the whole race. Last updated: 2010-05-25 12:00 AM
