Swim
Comments: I was surprised to be only 30 seconds slower than last year, given that I've barely been able to get any swimming in. There was some congestion at the beginning, but I'm pretty used to it by now, and it just made me laugh when I thought about the Clif Bar commercial with the guy practicing swim starts (look it up on YouTube, it's great). I felt good and comfortable throughout, and I didn't trip coming out of the water this year! I do love the fact that they keep claiming this is a half mile swim, although I do admit they've finally got the course to where it's about as long as you can make it in that pond. What would you do differently?: Get my pool membership back. Transition 1
Comments: There's a bit of a jog into transition, I passed a couple of guys getting in. Considering I hadn't really practiced getting my wetsuit off this year, it went well. No issues, and for the 4th straight year did not flat riding over the rocks in the parking lot. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: There was a little more wind than last year, but not nearly as bad as two years ago. Overall things were pretty uneventful, except that I came across the same two dopes drafting that I did last year. This time they were drafting AND blocking, so unlike last year I had a few choice words as I overtook them. The guy in front stood up in his peddles to get back ahead as I was passing him, I just shook my head and took off, it was pretty satisfying. What would you do differently?: Nothing, given my overall lack of training, etc. I was happy to be above 20 MPH. Transition 2
Comments: Got to see my family as I was heading back in. Just did a quick change of shoes and I was off. I felt pretty good. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: And then I didn't feel pretty good. Just too humid, and there's no shade on the run course. I need to check my Garmin, too, because I'm not sure if the course was 3.1, 3.5, or somewhere in between this year. I was able to maintain an ok pace, but it hurt. What would you do differently?: Not much, I've been getting some bricks in, but not enough runs in the heat. Post race
Warm down: Gatorade and then my traditional post race beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lots of stuff. Event comments: This is still such a fun race to do, very laid back with good competetion. Last updated: 2010-05-26 12:00 AM

Stayed in Ocean City with my family again, had a great time there! Kinda hard to get good sleep with a 2.5 year old a a 2 month old in the room, but it was worth it with all the fun we had.
Helped wrangle the oldest child ;)
