Swim
Comments: The course was supposed to be 1500m, but in actuality it was 1800m!! talk about a big mistake!! how does that happen??? anyway, I was really nervous, but it turns out, I was nervous for nothing!! the swim went really well!! I might have been slow, but I never stopped, never really broke stroke either, just nice easy pace. I LOVED IT!! I will push it harder next time though, now that I know I can do it!! What would you do differently?: I could go faster next time, now that I know I can do it :) its not as scary as I though it would be! Transition 1
Comments: Getting out of the water and into transition was an interesting experience. I had vertigo really bad!! I was falling all over the place trying to get my bike shoes on! other than that it was ok. What would you do differently?: I will wear ear plugs for my swim to help combat the vertigo, and get a bucket to sit on to get my shoes on, or learn how to do a flying mount. Bike
Comments: I was pleased with my bike time. nothing really good/bad happened on the course for me which was a blessing (no flat tire!!) the course was very crowded though. you really needed to be aware of everything around you. What would you do differently?: I need to drink more on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: this one was bad because I really needed to go to the bathroom. so not much I could do. What would you do differently?: hopefully, I wont have to use the bathroom next time :) Run
Comments: Running is my worst event, and it was really hard in the heat that day!! I was hoping to get a better time, but I just didnt train for the heat, and that killed me!! I had to walk a lot of the course, but it was my first time putting it all together, and I think I did pretty good from being an overweight couch potato in January to becoming a TRIATHLETE!! it feels great to say that!! What would you do differently?: Run more!! Run in the heat more as well!! Post race
Warm down: put a bag of ice on my head for a while to cool me down. got my after race pictures, and grabbed some pizza. Event comments: I will do this race again, I had a really good time, and I want to get it under 3 hours next time!! Last updated: 2010-06-02 12:00 AM

This was my first triathlon EVER!! I have been training with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. Back in January, I decided I wanted to get off my butt and actually complete a triathlon. So, from January on, I have gotten off the couch and got moving!! I have lost about 30lbs since then, and I feel GREAT!! I couldn't have done it with out them!! THANKS TNT!!
That morning, I ate 2 bananas and a bagel with cream cheese. We got together as a group and headed down to transition. For most of us, it was our first tri. I was getting very nervous of the swim, it looked really long!!
got some last minute advice from our coach. RELAX!! and stay to the outside :) great words to live by for your first one!! Started taking to a race official on the dock, and he said the swim was about 1800m!! 300 meters long!!! not good for my confidence!!!
