Pre-race routine:

Figured out where everything was, took some pictures, talked to friends.
Event warmup:

Swam for about 5min.
Swim
  • 05m 19s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

Its fun battling for position out there. In a longer race, I'm sure it starts to get annoying though.
What would you do differently?:

Start in the front of my age group.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

A little slower than in practice since I went way harder in the swim.
Bike
  • 40m 20s
  • 13 miles
  • 19.34 mile/hr
Comments:

Gatoraide is too sweet for not really hot days. Glad there was a water bottle exchange.
What would you do differently?:

Go a little harder since the run went quicker than I thought. Only water in the bottle unless its way hotter.
Transition 2
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

Went smooth. Stopped and drank some water for about 10seconds to wash gatoraide sweetness out of my mouth.
Run
  • 22m 29s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run time for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Sitting in the grass, eating BBQ sandwich, cookies, and water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not knowing how fast to go during the bike.

Event comments:

Fun because my wife did it with me and did well too. Also a good warm up for my Olympic distance July 10th.

Course: Fun. First triathlon. I knew it would be crowded, but that was insane. I'm a pretty fast swimmer, but hesitated to try and get out front at first. That changed quickly once I realized how slow everyone was going. Pushed up to the front in the first 100yards and followed the fastest guy in my group for the rest of the swim. Caught up to probably 2-3 waves ahead of me. 2nd out of the water with my wave and 13th out of the whole sprint race. Next race I am starting out front.

Course: Nice and hilly. Wasn't really expecting that, but oh well. Dealing with people was a pain. Lots of people not understanding the hundred signs saying "stay right except to pass." I made sure to check behind me every time I passed so I didn't cut any of the tri bike/aero helmet guys off. Those guys are fast....well, most of them.

Course: Flat, but crowded. Ran into a cone with a stake out the top of it on the way back. Some girl out there doesn't understand the travel on the right rule here in the US. Well, I had no where to go but try and hurdle a 3 foot high cone, which I tripped over. To many people, too narrow in some spots.
